Day 27: Less Hot, Less Cold

Kurangi Panas, Kurangi Dingin

Less Hot, Less Cold

If the hot or cold water is produced by a solar power system, it is environmental friendly.

If not, then almost certainly either natural gas or electricity has been used to heat the water. If you have a gas water heater, then carbon dioxide is released when the gas is burned. If you have an electric hot water system, then the energy may be produced by burning coal (which also directly releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere) or natural gas. If you have an electrical water heater and solar photovoltaic panels producing your electricity, then it is more complicated: if you didn’t use the power to heat the water, would ot be fed back into the grid? If so, heating your water increases the overall energy demand of the system, which may mean that more coal or gas is burned somewhere else to make up the difference.

So drink warm water, and drink hot and cold only for specific purpose.
